My name is Vicki and I am here to provide gentle support and help build great brains for children and families navigating the challenges of medical procedures.
I understand that medical procedures can be overwhelming and stressful for children and their families. That's why my primary goal is to help reduce stress, anxiety, and procedural pain through specialised distraction and relaxation techniques tailored to each child's unique needs.
These techniques not only provide a welcome distraction during medical procedures but also promote coping skills and empower children to face other life challenges confidently.
By engaging with children in therapeutic play, I can help them understand and process their medical experiences, making them feel more comfortable and in control.
My current work as a Child Life Therapist in one of Australia's largest children's hospital's along with over 25 years of experience as an Early Childhood Teacher and most recently my Graduate Certificate in Child Development have all increased my understanding of the fabulous brains of our little people and how best to work with them.
I started Grow Me Gently, to bring the power of gentle support to those who may not have a child life therapist available to them when undergoing medical treatment. Whether it be an immunisation, blood test, dental visit or major illness and surgery my compassionate approach will help to create a safe and nurturing space where children and families can thrive.
